A Suit of Armor
Meiji period (late 19th century)
Comprising an eighteen-plate suji-bachi lacquered russet-brown with a large gilt-metal tehen kanamono, the turnbacks and peak applied with stencilled leather and the bowl fitted with a five-lame solid-plate neck guard and with a gilt-metal circular maedate, the face mask russet iron and fitted with a three-lame throat guard; the kiritsuke nuinobe do laced in blue and applied with printed leather on the muna ita and fitted with seven sections of five-lame tassets with the bottom lame applied with stencilled leather; chu-sode trimmed with printed leather; sleeves chain mail and splints on the forearms; lacquered leather scale thigh guards; splint shin guards; wood storage box; no armor stand
