Carved as a reclining tiger turning his head to look over his left shoulder, the thick tail wrapping up over his torso, fur finely incised, eyes inlaid in brass with pupils highlighted in black lacquer

Lot Essay

Kurogaki is from the black persimmon tree native to Japan which produces a very dark and dense heartwood similar to ebony.
