The Starship Voyager was designed by illustrator Rick Sternbach under the direction of production designer Richard James. Their orders were to make the good ship Voyager faster, sleeker, meaner, and more powerful than the starships in previous versions of Star Trek. The model was constructed by Tony Meininger under the direction of visual effects producer Dan Curry.
