Lot Essay

The Bajoran symbol was based on a set drawing by set designer Nathan Crowley for a temple in the pilot movie of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The circular area with the spiral would have been a spiral staircase. The set design was not used, but it caught the eye of graphic designer Mike Okuda, who used it as the basis of the Bajoran symbol.
