The mysterious orbs, also known as "tears of the Prophets," had extraordinary powers, as we saw in "Emissary" in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The Orb of Prophecy and Change helped Kira Nerys find meaning in life in "The Circle" in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The Orb of Wisdom inspired Ferengi grand nagus Zek to repudiate the predatory capitalism that had ruled his people, although he later got better in "Prophet Motive" in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. And the Orb of Time was responsible for sending Sisko and company back to the time of James T. Kirk and the original Enterprise in "Trials and Tribble-ations" in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
