Like most of the principal Enterprise sets for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, the bridge was originally built for Star Trek: Phase II in early/mid-1978. When that project was cancelled, the set was partially dismantled and upgraded to take advantage of the higher budget available to a major motion picture. These drawings reflect both versions of the set.
