Lot Essay

The Klingon ship in Star Trek: The Motion Picture represented the first time that Star Trek had made a major investment in a control room for a non-Federation spacecraft. The Star Trek: The Motion Picture Klingon bridge, combined with a smoky atmosphere and fiery hot colors in the computer readouts provided a striking contrast to the clean styles and cool colors of the Enterprise, and defined the look of Klingon ships for all subsequent Star Trek productions. Also included in this lot is a blueprint of an early concept for an entirely different Klingon ship bridge that was developed for Star Trek: Phase II, apparently intended as a standing set for the series.
