A Victorian silver quaich and snuff-box presented to Dr Livingstone, the quaich with maker's mark of Marshall and Sons, Edinburgh, 1847, the snuff-box with maker's mark of James Naysmith and Company, Edinburgh, 1851

the circular quaich with shaped bracket handles and moulded rim foot, the side engraved with presentation inscription 'To Dr. Livingstone FROM Mrs. M. Lockhart as a small token of SINCERE REGARD.', marked on side, the oblong snuff-box with hinged cover with floral thumbpiece, the base, cover and sides with engraved diaperwork decoration, the cover with plain oblong plaque engraved with presentation inscription 'PRESENTED TO Dr D. Livingstone. AGHARA. DUROR. Mr & Mrs Lockhart of Ardsheal. As a small token of their gratitude for his unvarying kind attention to their Young Family 1859', marked in base and cover
