Graham--Vintage 1955
Lot 10 Berry Brothers and Rudd capsules. No labels. Levels into neck. Lots 11 to 14 Bottled by Berry Brothers and Rudd. Metal capsules. Labelled. Levels base of neck or better
Tasting Note: One of my all-time favourite ports. I have made nearly 30 notes since 1958, seven since 1990. A big wine that has evolved perfectly. A classic in 1991 bottled by Harvey's: mature but rosy-cheeked; glorious bouquet, a fabulous fragrance erupting out of its depths. Sweet, refined, silky, yet still tannic, fleshy but firm. Showing well at a Gidleigh Park port tasting in the mid-1990s, fragrant, almost ethereal, lovely texture. Most recently decanted at 6.20pm, fully mature; a light, spicy bouquet that opened up magnificently by 10.30. Still very sweet, delicious flavour, glorious length. Perfection. Dinner at home, Oct 1999 ***** M.B.
