Eli Harvey received early training at the Cincinnati Academy of Art before traveling to Paris to study at the Academies Julian and Delecluse. His animal bronzes garnered international praise and became the artist's best known works and most sought after subjects. Most notably, Harvey is credited with the bear mascot for Brown University as well as decorations at the New York Zoological Park and his works can be found in the collections of the Denver Art Museum, Buffalo Bill Historical Center, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
