Château Le Tertre-Rôteboeuf--Vintage 1989
Saint-Emilion, grand cru classé
In original wooden case
Tasting note: An extraordinary St-Émilion 'cult' wine which has become very fashionable since the 1980s. Whether it was its name having a subliminal influence, my first note (in 1998), referred to its meaty nose, then more like 'boiled ham'. Full, rich, singed aftertaste. Most recently, still deep, rich, intense, unusual, curiously sweaty (tannic) nose; sweet, delicious, rich texture - more like vintage port. Last noted at a tasting conducted by the owner Francois Mitjavile, in London, Match 2001 **(***)? Now - 2025 M.B.
