Lot Essay

Friedrich Christoph Steinhammer was a seventeenth-century German painter and engraver, active in Nuremberg. There are only two known works by the artist: the present painting, and a drawing signed 'FRID:CHR:STEINHAM/ER 1608' (National Museum, Stockholm).
