Accompanied by Breitling contemporary presentation pouch. Furthermore delivered with copy of Breitling invoice for overhaul of the watch in 2003 and various movement parts, exchanged during this servicing.
The AVI model was originally designed for the Armée de l'Air (French Air Force) in the late 1950s and later renamed "Co-Pilot". The early models, such as the present watch, feature the engraved specification "AVI" and reference "765" to the back. Both AVI and Co-Pilot models are considered rarer than the comparable Navitimer aviator watches from the period and were also more expensive.
The Co-Pilot features a luminous 15 minutes register for close timing and 12 hours recorder and a large, easy to read dial. The revolving locking bezel can be set for the ETA or Estimated Time of Arrival or for another time zone.
During the same period, 20th Century Fox motion picture studio showed close-ups of Breitling watches in various films, notably the "Co-Pilot" worn by Raquel Welsh in the 1967 movie "Fathom".
