Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with 14K yellow gold case, silvered dial and applied gold Breguet numerals in 1941 and its subsequent sale on 21 August 1941.
This watch has never been offered in public before and is thought to be one of only six examples of this reference in 14K gold known to date, out of which three were fitted with a two-tone dial and Breguet numerals.
Reference number 530 was usually reserved for the renowned oversized chronograph wristwatch, introduced into the market in 1938. However, research resulted in the discovery of the fact that reference 530 was used not just for the chronograph but also for a plain model without any complications. Whereas the present watch very much resembles a traditional reference 570, close examination shows differences in case proportions such as a larger diameter of 36.5 mm.
Examples of a "time only" reference 530 in 14K gold with silvered dial and applied Breguet numerals, confirmed by the Extract, are exceedingly rare.
Another particularity of the present watch is the colour of its case, appearing very much as pink gold. However according to researches at Patek Philippe in Geneva it appears that the pink tone is caused by the gold alloy of the present watch case, made in 14K gold instead of the more common 18K gold. Such cases were in general reserved for the Russian market.
