With gilt-finished cylinder movement with male keywinding, the engine-turned silver dial with Roman numerals on blank chapter ring, secret signature and numbering between XI and XII and XII and I, gilt moon-style hands, in small and thin engine-turned case with regulator in the band, case numbered 113 and 178 and stamped with casemaker's initials LJ for Joly, dial signed and numbered 113, movement numbered 113

Lot Essay

Accompanied by a male ratchet key and a bone presentation box set with an enamel miniature depicting a lady in a classical landscape.

According to the Archives of Breguet, the present watch, fitted with a "nouveau calibre" movement with lozenge-shaped bridges, was sold on 17 May 1837 to Monsieur Cottereau Père (or father) for the amount of Francs 950. The original price was Francs 1,000 but Mr. Cottereau was given a reduction of Francs 50.

Messrs. Mir and Cottereau were Breguet's agents in Constantinople.
