Cal. 240 Q nickel-finished lever movement stamped with the Geneva seal, 27 jewels, Gyromax balance, free sprung regulator, 22K gold micro-rotor, the champagne dial with applied gold baton numerals, gold dauphine hands, three subsidiary dials indicating day combined with 24 hour display, month combined with leap year indicator, phases of the moon combined with date, the circular case with stepped bezel, downturned lugs, glazed display snap on back, case, dial and movement signed

Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Certificat d'Origine dated 6 November 1989 and Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with gilt dial in 1988 and its subsequent sale on 20 July 1988. Furthermore delivered with spare plain 18K gold snap on back number 2'848'493, 18K gold and wooden setting pin, original fitted wooden presentation box and outer packaging.

The present watch has never been offered at auction before. It is one of the very few examples of reference 3940 fitted with a gilt dial, normally reserved for a limited series of only 25 examples of this reference made with champagne dial to commemorate the 225th anniversary of the renowned Beyer Chronometrie in 1985.
