Lot Essay

The present dial was made to special order for the original owner of lot 453 in this auction, the Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch reference 1518. The meticulous collector who had his watch regularly serviced by Patek Philippe preferred to have a spare dial in case that the original one would need to be replaced.

It is delivered with the original Patek Philippe & Co. Genève Service des Fournitures brown paper bag with inscription "Cadran 2499 pour 1518" (dial 2499 for 1518).

Reference 2499 (see lot 45 in this auction) was launched in 1951 and made with different dial layouts.
