Lot Essay

Manning Lee was born in South Carolina 15 March 1894 and received his artistic training at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts. He was primarily a children's book illustrator, and worked closely with his wife, Eunice (Tina), who was the editor of the popular children's magazine, Jack and Jill.
