The moulded arched padded back, scroll arms and serpentine seat upholstered in brass nailed brown leather, on turned fluted tapered legs and front castors, stamped 'DOVESTON, BIRD & HULL MANUFACTURERS'

Doveston,Bird & Hull, c.1860-1881.Unfortunately,the records for this firm have been lost but they produced furniture of the highest quality.Their leading designer was B.J Talbert,before he moved to Gillows and then Alfred Waterhouse when they were involved in the furnishing of Manchester Town hall.
