Although not one of Ottoline Morrell's closest friends, Cyril Connolly appreciated her importance as a patroness and inspiration. Reviewing her Memoirs in The Sunday Times he wrote: 'As a presence she figured not only in the lives of the writers and artists of her generation, but in their art'.
