In a letter of 2 December 1921, Virginia Woolf noted that 'the first edition of Roger's woodcuts sold out in two days, and another [is] to be printed, folded, stitched and bound instantly' (Letters, II, p.495). By 30 December she was boasting that the book had gone into a third printing.
