Please note that this work is registered in the archives of Matta, prepared by Madame Germana Ferrari Matta, under archive no. 41/18.

During 1941, Matta created paintings with contradictory spatial systems, combining the two dimensional grid with the illusion of deep space. This exploration culminated in Matta's related 1941 masterpiece, Years of Fear in the Permanent Collection of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York.
