EINSTEIN, Albert (1879-1955). Three autograph postcards signed ('Papa') to his elder son, Hans Albert, Goettingen and n.p. [Berlin], 30 March 1916 -- 12 October 1918, writing initially from Goettingen looking forward to going for a tour with his son, though a later card from Berlin reports that he has been delayed because of difficulties with his passport; the longer postcard of October 1918 expresses his pleasure that Hans Albert writes to him so often, and makes reference to the ravages of the great 1918-19 influenza epidemic, 'the cursed flu is still haunting us -- here too it is raging terribly' and to the approaching end of World War I, 'Hopefully it's peace now. Then there will no longer be a Chinese wall between us and the letters can speed back and forth', also looking forward to the prospect of more regular visits to Zurich in connection with a lecture series, and asking anxiously after the health of his younger son, Eduard; together 3½ pages, 8vo.
