A Canton carved and pierced wood cabinet, 19th century
the doors pierced with cartouches including figures carrying a palanquin, men riding domestic beasts and figures in a court scene with some engaged in martial arts, opening to reveal eight variously shaped drawers carved in high relief with rural scenes, flanked by low relief panels with birds amidst peony sprays, surmounted by a two tiered graduating superstructure with dragon carved supports, pierced with birds, deer, bats and two figures with one holding a leafy lotus sprig, the frame with bone inlay of bats, prunus, lotus and stylised dragons pursuing the flaming pearl, based on a stand with paw-feet below low relief mythical beast masks -- 23in. (58.4cm.) wide, 13 3/8in. (34cm.) deep, 53½in (134.6cm.) high.
