Woven in wools and silks, depicting a Roman encampment with an officer and some soldiers in classical armour standing in the foreground, further troops, a town and a mountainous horizon in the background, within a stylised scrolling foliate border and a blue outer slip, the slip folded over, on a wooden bearer, cut and joined vertically, with rewoven slip
8 ft. 10 in. x 6 ft. 9 in. (270 cm. x 205 cm.)
