BIBLE, Slavonic. Apostol. [Acts of the Apostles]. [Vilna: Lukash Mamonich, c.1592].
2° (280 x 180mm). 273 leaves. Printed in red and black. Full-page woodcut, woodcut initials, and head- and tail-pieces. (A number of leaves re-margined and with mostly marginal repairs, a few letters supplied in manuscript, occasional tear with old repair, soiling, dampstain mostly in last few gatherings.) Contemporary calf over wooden boards (?19th-century re-back, endpapers renewed, straps repaired, clasps and catches probably supplied, some wear).
Second edition, published soon after Mamonich's first of 1591. All known copies, as this one, are without title or colophon. There are no substantial differences in the text; it differs from the first in that it was published without the dedication to Teodor Skumin, and without Andrei Rimsha's panegyric. A few years earlier, the Mamonich printers had published the Statutes of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania -- an important publication which served as exemplar for the codification of law in Russia, Ukraine and Prussia.
