Full-sheet engraved map of Moscow (546 x 760mm), accompanied by a full-sheet (486 x 596mm) letterpress key to locations of principal buildings and streets. (Light stain at margin of map and at edge of table.) Full sheets, with deckle edges.
THE FIRST GEODETIC PLAN OF MOSCOW. It was made under the supervision of the architect Ivan Michurin, active in Moscow and, at the request of Empress Elizabeth, in Kiev. The map is accompanied by a separate key identifying streets, churches, public buildings, monasteries, etc. It was drawn in collaboration with Sava Kashintsov, Maksim Enkuvatov, Aleksei Kertsov, and others, and was also included in the Atlas Russicus, 1745.
