The present work was painted as the title page for Charles Kingsley's Westward Ho! published in 1920 by Charles Scribner's Sons.
Westward Ho! is one of three books published in 1920 that N.C. Wyeth illustrated, the others being The Courtship of Miles Standish and Robinson Crusoe.
