by Pierre-Eustache Deslandes (fl. 1758-1781), marked, Paris, 1764/1765, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prévost 1762-1768
Oval box, the cover, sides and base of Indian-red lacquer, the cover inlaid with a black lacquer vase standing on a mosssy ground and inlaid with reeded scrolls and floral festoons chased in four-colour gold, within a black lacquer border inlaid with silver pellets surrounded by ribbon-twist, the upper sides of the base bordered by a pierced ribbon-twist band, the pierced thumbpiece above centred by a rocaille shell flanked by foliage and reeded c-scrolls, bright-cut gold rims, the centre of the base inlaid with a flowerspray in four-colour gold, the inside gold-lined
