one Geneva, circa 1790/1800, maker's mark 'JHC' a crown above, struck with the small excise mark for the French departments 1798-1809, the small census mark for the French departments 1809-1819 and the post-1838 warranty mark for the French departments, one by the same maker, circa 1800, struck with the third standard and the small excise marks for gold, French departments 1798-1809, one Paris, 1782/1783, with the first charge and discharge marks of Henry Clavel 1780-1782 and his discharge mark for old works 1780-1789, maker's mark rubbed, later struck with two Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks for gold
Octagonal box, the panels on cover, four sides and base engine-turned with basket-weave, the matted gold borders chased in three-colour gold with trailing foliage, the four canted sides engine-turned with pellets on fine horizontal reeding, the inside of the lid engraved 'Bidault Biniere'; together with another, larger octagonal box, the panels on cover, four sides and base engine-turned with flower-heads within latticework, three-colour gold foliate borders on a matted band, the four canted sides engine-turned with flowerheads; together with an oval two-colour gold box, the panels on cover, sides and base engine-turned with horizontal reeding stamped with rows of pellets, within foliate borders on a matted ground interspersed with ovolos and pellets, the upper border of the sides chased with raised gold laurel festoons on a frosted band, the four side pilasters chased as fluted columns hung with laurel swags
