MARK OF HENRY HOLLAND, LONDON, 1878
Queen's pattern, engraved with 'L' cypher below a Royal coronet encircled by a marquess' coronet, comprising:
Twenty-four dessert-forks
Twenty-four dessert-spoons
Twenty-four dessert knives with silver-gilt blades
Twenty-four cheese knives with stainless steel blades, two apparently unmarked
contained in a later green velvet lined case, labelled for D.S. Lavender
100 oz. (3,120 gr.)
The initial is for Princess Louise, Marchioness of Lorne, later Duchess of Argyll (1838-1939), 4th daughter of Queen Victoria (r.1837-1901) and wife of John, Marquess of Lorne, later 9th Duke of Argyll (1845-1914). (96)
