Lot Essay

The technique, the subject and the shape of the present drawing are comparable to those of a study of the Penitent Monk by Magnasco at Princeton (F. Gibbons, Catalogue of Italian Drawings in the Art Museum, Princeton University, Princeton, 1977, no. 411).
