The Mother of God holding Christ with tenderness, the latter grasping the thumb of his Mother with both his hands, their faces touching each other, painted with a combination of pink and brown shades and emphasised by delicate white brushstrokes, the folds of the Virgin's brown maphorion rendered with ochre colour, the belt and himation of Christ, as well as details on the Virgin's garments rendered with chrysography, the preserved part of the background with traces of gold
