A GREEK BRONZE CHALCIDIAN HELMET
CIRCA 550-500 B.C.
The crown with a carinated edge that peaks at the front where it merges with the sharp median ridge, with deep crescentic cheek-pieces, a small nose guard, long thin eyebrow lines and a flanged neck-guard, the reinforcing band applied to the perimeter partially preserved, the back somewhat crumpled and the proper right cheek-piece with a large central perforation, presumably from battle, a dedicatory Greek inscription incised on the neck-guard
