signed and numbered 'Max Ernst 29/35' (on the bronze base) and stamped 'A. Valsuani Cire perdue' (on the reverse edge of the base).
bronze with a green brown patina
14,5 x 29.5 x 9.5 cm.
Conceived in 1929 and cast in an edition of 35 in the 1970's. This sculpture is number 29 of 35 (there was also a numbered edition of eight).

Lot Essay

The individual figures in this sculpture were originally designed in 1929-1930. In the early 1970's, Ernst authorized the Societé de Diffusion d'Oeuvres Plastiques et Multiples, Paris, to cast a bronze edition.
