Best rose and scroll engraving with full colour-hardening (renewed), cocking-indicators, articulated front trigger (No. 2), highly figured replacement stocks with pistolgrips, pistolgrip-caps and recoil-pads, the Whitworth-steel chopper-lump barrels (No. 3) and chopper-lump barrels (No. 2), with game-ribs
Weight 7lb. ½oz. (No. 3) and 6lb. 11oz. (No. 2), 14 7/8in. pull (No. 3) and 15 1/8in. pull (No. 2), 30in. barrels, choke approx. cyl. & ¼ (No. 3) and both I.C. (No. 2), 2½in. chambers, nitro reproof (left bore dimension and barrel-thicknesses marginal No. 2)

Lot Essay

The makers have kindly confirmed that the guns were completed in 1893 and 1899 respectively and that the No. 3 gun was restocked in 1950. There is no record of the No. 2 gun being restocked by Purdey's but it is remarkably similar.
