Lot Essay

Elizaveta Nikodimovna Potapova (1887-1966) studied architecture and drawing before joining the State Porcelain Factory in 1919, where she produced plates with her own design as well as reproducing painted details of other artists. She worked for the State Porcelain Factory until 1932, when she resigned for health reasons, returning briefly during the war, 1943-4.
