Rectangular, decorated with humorous insects in inebriated states and Russian adage enamelled on the green glass, with original stopper, apparently unmarked
9 1/4 in. (23.4 cm.) high
The decanter inscribed in Russian 'Hello, little glasses, how are you getting on? Waiting for me? Drink, drink, and you will see devils. Wine! Hey, my dear! Flow into my throat my dear Son. The first is what I do not drink, the second is what I do not like and the third is what I have already drunk! They got tight and had a fight. After a sound sleep they drank the morning after and made up' and signed in Cyrillic and dated 'Eliz. Bem 97'.

Lot Essay

Elizaveta Merkurievna Bem (1843-1914) studied at the society for the Encouragment of Artists and was awarded the Grand Gold medal in 1870 from the Academy of Fine Arts. As the relative of the manager of the Dyat'kovo Crystal Factory. Bem produced designs fo glass in a highly artistic reproduction of national style" in line with 18th century productions.
