12o (132 x 102 mm). Color frontispiece and 15 color illustrations. Original pink pictorial boards, rounded spine (a little pale spotting, some very slight splitting to front joint); quarter morocco slipcase.

FIRST EDITION of Potter's second book (one of 500 copies printed). The Tailor of Gloucester was Potter's favorite book, and she preferred this privately printed edition to the Warne edition of 1903 because it contained more of the old rhymes. Linder, p. 420; Quinby 3; V & A 1562-65.
