Original gilt-decorated lavender cloth, upper cover with inset color pictorial label, g.e., color pictorial endpapers (Linder 2 & 3 [used twice]), (front hinge starting, otherwise a very fine bright copy); quarter morocco folding case. Provenance: Annie Moyes (gift inscription dated 1916 on front pastedown).

FIRST EDITION IN DE-LUXE CLOTH BINDING. It is believed that Beatrix Potter was involved with the cloth cover design because she said in one of her letters to Warnes, "I will do some sketches of designs for the cover while I am at Melford."
