A GERMAN COMPOSITE DAGGER
17th Century
With robust blade double-edged towards the point, pierced with a series of lozenges and small circles over the length of the two narrow fullers below the back edge, the ricasso cut with an additional short fuller, also pierced, struck with a mark, 'FF' and a coronet, on both sides, and inscribed 'Fransn' along one edge and 'Fririch' along the other, iron hilt with trumpet-shaped quillons and small side-ring filled with a pierced plate, globular pommel with raised moulded button and the grip bound with copper wire and 'Turk's Heads'.
