Lot Essay

Abraham Hondius was a Dutch artist who settled in London, probably in 1666 after the Great Fire. His oeuvre responded to Flemish artists of the previous generation, and in particular to Frans Snyders' scenes of hunting wild animals with dogs, such as can be seen in lot 107.
