At first glance The Game appears to be about a man playing a game of dice with a woman who strangely pops out of a box with an odd configuration. The idea of a game is boosted by a scoreboard located at the bottom of the box, but nuances to the interpretation are introduced once the viewer looks closely at the composition and finds the other images. The man is actually playing a game with a statue, which immediately gives a sense of absurdity and surrealism of the situation. The game, perhaps, as seemingly suggests by the artist is played in the mind of the man as he weighs the situation, deciding whether to make the decision of entering the door or not. A couple of rolled up sheets of paper of what are possibly maps represents the paths where the door at the back leads to. Myriad and multiple interpretations are possible when one ponders further and the various meanings that could expand often enhance the experience for an onlooker.
