Lot Essay

Feel the beat! is one of Pacita Abad's most colorful of the 56 prints and paper pulp pieces that she did as a visiting artist at the Singapore Tyler Print Institute (STPI). The artwork incorporates 38 colours combining the techniques of lithography, relief painting, screen printing and hand-colored paper pulp. This print was exhibited as part of Pacita's show Circles in my mind at STPI in November 2003. In Feel the beat! Pacita incorporated glitter, beads and fabric within the artwork's different circular designs. After the print was completed, Pacita added some touches of colours, so that each of the print editions is unique. In Feel the beat! you can truly appreciate Pacita's mastery and love of colours.
