Lot Essay

The work is done in the style of the celebrated, first generation Vietnamese silk painter, Nguyen Phanh Chanh. Highly regarded for his silk work in lyrical oriental style, the works of Nguyen Phnh Chanh are closely affiliated to Chinese paintings and this is exemplified by his fine, elegant lines as well as the inscription in Chinese, at times a poem. There's a great following for this style of painting and many copied the works of the master as a way to perfect their own skill.
