MILITARY INTEREST:- A GEORGE III SILVER PRESENTATION TEAPOT,
MARK OF EMES & BARNARD, LONDON, 1812,
Of bellied oval form with half-fluted sides & tucked-in oval base raised on four bun feet, shell, leaf & gadroon rim, ribbed, acanthus-capped handle with ivory spacers, the sides engraved on either side, one side with crown over an oval buckle & strap cartouche engraved around it "Regi Regno Que Fidelis", presumably the regimental motto, & within the cartouche "Presented by the officers of the regiment of Westmorland East and West Wards Local Militia", the opposite side engraved with an angel holding aloft a flaming torch flanked by birds in flight above a drapery cartouche inscribed within "To Mr.Adjutant Garnett on his marriage A.D 1810", 25 oz.
