A large Chinese Canton famille rose celadon-ground jar and cover, mid 19th century
of baluster form, enamelled with butterflies, pheasants and other birds amidst peony, chrysanthemum and finger citron sprays, between similarly decorated band above the foot and around the shoulders, surmounted by a similarly enamelled domed cover with a gilt pearl-shaped finial, all reserved on a pale-celadon ground -- 24½in. (62.2cm.) high.
