'Big Ted', an early Chad Valley teddy bear
with light golden mohair, large light orange and black glass eyes, pronounced clipped muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, jointed limbs, hump and growler, 1920s --28½in. (72.5cm.) high (hole in muzzle, glue applied to muzzle, eye attachments broken, a few bald spots and areas of thinning, faded and matted, pads recovered)

Provenance
Big Ted was the childhood bear of Vi Worgan, born in 1914 and died in 1996. She lived in Shipton under Wytchwood near Stow all her life. She was the local school teacher and the bear use to sit at the front of the class.
