An American mahogany drop-dial calendar wall clock, second half 19th Century
The case with hexagonal frame and carved foliate ears to the drop section with glazed door, painted dial signed PATENTED BY/GALUSHA MARANVILLE/MARCH 5TH 1861 beneath the month aperture and above the Roman chapter ring with blued steel hour and minute hands, red painted hand indicating to the outer concentric date ring with inner adjustable day of week ring, days and months both adjusted manually by steel squares on the dial, the movement of typical format with hour strike on a gong, trade label to inside of the backboard -- 25 in. (64 cm.) high; and A SMALL AMERICAN MAHOGANY STEEPLE CLOCK, second half 19th Century, the door with glass panel inscribed BUCKINGHAM PALACE but depicting the Crystal Palace, the movement with fusees and strike on gong -- 19 in. (48 cm.) high (2)
