"A wonderfully fresh and pure nose that is only just beginning to reveal traces of secondary development introduces very finely detailed and mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that possess good mid-palate fat, excellent complexity and still plenty of finishing drive on the exceptionally long backend. While this is nearing its peak, for my tastes, I would advise holding this for another 2 to 4 years and then drinking over the next decade. Like most '96s, this isn't dense but neither is it dilute and the balance is impeccable, which will permit the '96 Combettes to live and very long life." BH, March 24, 2006
